The arena Global Health Economics & Outcomes research (HEOR) bridges clinical development and commercial aspiration, by providing sound scientific evidence that will enable AstraZeneca to be the industry leader in achieving market access at optimal price. HEOR is part of Global Clinical R&D and is located in Sweden, UK and US. We work closely with our colleagues in R&D and in Global Marketing as well as with colleagues in our Marketing Companies all over the world. HEOR senior scientists are responsible for designing and carrying out research in the areas of Health Economics and Patient Reported Outcomes. Our aim is to develop tools and evidence that can be used locally to demonstrate the value of our products to patients, payers and the society as a whole. The HEOR group in Sweden currently consists of 35 specialists within the fields of Health Economics and Patient Reported Outcomes. To further strengthen a successful team we are now looking for a HE research scientist with significant knowledge and experience with quantitative methods and modelling in health care investigations. The role The HE senior scientist will be the internal champion for quantitative methods and modelling, and will with regard to that have the following responsibilities: Advise project teams on approaches to quantitative research and modelling Lead an internal team that reviews all HE-models that are going to be used with customers Represent HEOR in appropriate teams and working groups set up to find new ways of using quantitative research to gain knowledge about clinical practice Suggest and lead competence development and availability of a relevant tool box The HE senior scientist will also be assigned to one or several products. This project work will be focused on quantitative methods and modelling but will also include the following responsibilities: Participate in the development of the Value Story and the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) strategy aiming at providing our Marketing Companies with evidence such as cost of illness studies and tools such as budget impact and cost-effectiveness models Interactions with HTA agencies Write relevant sections of Protocols, Case Report Forms and Clinical Study Reports Create and evaluate economic models using programs such as Tree age and Excel Work with external consulting companies and organisations Present study results in articles, posters and oral presentations for a variety of groups and stake holders Provide scientific support to the Marketing Companies enabling local adaptation of tools and local generation of critical evidence The HE senior scientist will also be expected to follow and pro-actively respond to changes and development of international health care systems, payer requirements, HE methodology and guidelines. Minimum experience/requirements A degree in relevant discipline including health economics, health science, health policy, statistics, epidemiology, or equivalent Industry-relevant hands-on experience designing health economic evaluations Significant modelling and programming experience Relevant knowledge of statistics and econometrics It is essential that you have excellent skills in the English language, both in speaking and in writing You need to be collaborative, like to take on responsibility, have excellent interpersonal skills, like to work in a team, be a good communicator, creative, business-oriented and to have a well-developed conceptual thinking As there will be periods of intense work and work that requires your proactive participation, it is important that you are able to manage working under pressure, prioritise and to work independently Preferred experience/requirements Postgraduate studies in any of the relevant disciplines mentioned above Experience from working in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably with HE evaluations Programming experience in Excel and VBA Demonstrated outstanding capabilities using quantitative methods in health care investigations, including observational study design, biostatistics, and econometrics, as well as experience analyzing large observational data, epidemiologic, clinical trial and/or other health care data sources.
